Creativity, colour and collaboration - training with Elyse Sprott

Earlier this month, our team at Salon Express was given the opportunity to learn from L’Oreal Professionnel Guest artist Elyse Sprott, the Colour Director at Rixton Hair in Brisbane City.

Elyse presented an interactive look and learn Colour Workshop, giving our team an immersive look into her teachings and techniques. The session was centered around adding depth and dimension back into the hair, with a focus on the trending winter warmer tones.

Elyse is a technical master at what she does, with her love of colour flowing through both her work and teachings. A L’Oreal Professional artist for 15 years, a 2021 FAME (Fellowship Academy of Merit and Excellence) team member, and a Colour Trophy national finalist on multiple occasions (just to name a few), Elyse is an inspiration in her field.

During the look and learn, Elyse presented three different topics: how to achieve a seamless melt to add depth to blonde clients, foil free balayage and the wolf cut. The seamless melt method aligns with Elyse’s dimensional style, teaching how to strategically use fade to allow lightness around the face. The fan favourite, faux balayage, was a technique demonstrated with no foils, giving the stylist optimal versatility with levels created. And of course, the wolf cut, its ease of adjustability to suit the individual, was demonstrated to the team, with an emphasis on texture creating.

With many of these looks, specifically the fox cut and foil free balayage, trending in salon, you can imagine our stylist were all ears to learn these tips and tricks. They also got to see and feel the looks Elyse had prepared prior, ultimately helping them translate what Elyse was saying into a visual canvas.

Elyse’s session was extremely engaging and educational. With a perfect balance of conversational education and structured teachings with step-by-step examples. Elyse stated her aim was to deliver hair education the team would be able to take and use in salon the next day, and she most definitely delivered. Our team left feeling confident and ready to apply the new colouring and texturising tips

Elyse talks about her FAME Journey, how L’Oreal Professionel has enabled her to level up her colour creativity and gives advice to anyone starting out in the hairdressing industry….
